We want to help you to create a successful team – so here are a few tips:
- Build your team by seeking out those individuals in your office or workplace who are energetic and passionate about the issues. You can also look for individuals who are well-organized and willing
to mobilize others. You can get started by sending an email to your colleagues with the Donate a Day web link – www.donateaday.ca
- Develop a communication/marketing plan to get people involved and raise awareness. You can download team tools here that will provide you with flyers, posters and other promotional
tools.
- Set-up an informal ‘Lunch n’ Learn’ session where you can educate people about the World Health Day Challenge. You can download the PowerPoint presentation that will help provide
you with visuals and general overview information.
- Set a team goal that you would like to meet and challenge your team members to meet this goal.
- If you don’t have the time for in-person meetings send out group emails to keep the event top of mind. Frequent emails will also help to motivate team members.
- Elect one member of the team to be the Team Reporter who will write a short article about your team’s accomplishments and take photos of your team on the day of the event. Photos and stories will
be posted on the Donate a Day web site in the success stories section. These photos and stories will inspire others in future years.
- Use social networking sites. Set up a group on FaceBook and invite your team members to join. This is also a way to send out invitations to colleagues who may not have joined your team yet.
- Remember to have fun and celebrate your team’s accomplishments once the event wraps up.
